Polymeric HPLC phases based on sulfonated spherical PS/DVB resins in different ionic forms for the separation of sugars and sugar alcohols.
- Pb2+ form is ideal for separation of mono- and disaccharides from food and biological samples
- Ca2+ form is ideal for separation of mono- and oligosaccharides, and sugar alcohols
- Na+ form is ideal for separation of oligosaccharides from starch hydrolysates and food
Separation mechanism includes steric exclusion, ligand exchange and partition effects. Ligand exchange is the predominant force, since the hydrated metal ions form strong interactions with the hydroxyl groups of the sample molecules. The intensity of these interactions decreases in the sequence Pb2+, Ca2+, Na+.
The eluent of demineralised water in the columns is also recommended for the application.
The Valco type guard column cartridge is used for analytical Valco column with the guard column holder C (MANA719538).
